The Cheng Ho Mosque reflects an acculturation of Arab architectural style, Chinese temple culture, and Javanese traditions. The dimensions are modeled after the size of the Kaaba, which Prophet Ibrahim (AS) first built, and drew inspiration from the number of Wali Songo.
This design combines the Semanggi batik motif which is the signature pattern of Surabaya. According to local mythology, the Semanggi leaf with its heart-shaped appearance, is believed to bring good luck.
